Our next 30 Day Challenge is right around the corner! Although it doesn’t quite feel like Spring yet…Spring is officially here! We’re ready at Buffalo Barre to #SpringItOn and help all of you get in shape!

The challenge starts on Monday, April 13th and lasts 30 days. In 30 days, your goal will be to attend as many classes as you can! Keep track of how many classes you take by filling out a #SpringItOn challenge tracker at the studio. Take:

  • 15 classes and earn a pair of Buffalo Barre grippy socks and 15% off your next package
  • 20 classes - Buffalo Barre grippy socks and 20 % off your next package

Never Give Up!

Buffalo Barre’s “New Year, New You 30 Day Challenge” has come to a close and the winner of this challenge is Danielle DeMaison! Over the course of 30 days, Danielle took 41 classes (a Buffalo Barre 30 Day Challenge record), lost 5.5 lbs. of pure body fat (determined by her % body fat loss) and lost 4 1/2 % overall inches as measured in 5 key areas. She journaled her steps per day (10,000 – 12,500) her food consumption and Buffalo Barre workouts by using her Fitbit. She shared her journey throughout the challenge on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook by using our hashtag #BuffBarre30DC. She participated in 4 Nutrition classes including a nutrition and ground rules meeting, a healthy cooking class, a grocery store tour and a Weston A. Price meeting on how diet affects your dental and overall health. She attended our Man up to the Barre event with her fiancee and our Go Red For Women event in honor of Women and Heart Disease. She fueled her body with nutritious food, her mind with positive thoughts and she pushed herself. 30 Days later… she is so much stronger, toned and confident. If you haven’t seen Danielle in a while, this is what she’s been up to! She’s been working very hard at Buffalo Barre!  Danielle was a dancer for many years and can often be found warming up before class starts by doing crazy upside down splits at the barre and other things that would put most of us in the hospital! She carries herself with this same grace during class and is never afraid to push herself to her limits. I don’t think she ever left a class without rosy cheeks, a smile and drenched in sweat! It didn’t start off this way though. It was hard for her in the beginning, but she kept coming back for more…again and again and again. She never gave up. That’s what I admire about you Danielle! YOU NEVER GAVE UP!

“Participating in Buffalo Barre’s 30 Day Challenge was a life-changing experience.  Not only did I lose weight and improve my overall health, I set myself up for continued success down the road.
The community at Buffalo Barre is amazing. I never once felt like I was in this alone.  Not only did the dedication of my fellow challengers inspire me (these women really were a group of rock stars!  I found energy from their strength!) but the support from the ENTIRE studio was just overwhelming!  Previous challengers would reach out & share their triumphs and struggles, women I hadn’t even met before would ask me how the challenge was going, and regulars in class would check in daily with “you’re coming tomorrow, right?!”  The sisterhood at Buffalo Barre is like no other! Even more exciting than seeing all of our final numbers, were the small victories along the way, and being right there beside my fellow challengers to celebrate them… cheering Mary on the first time she “flipped her dog,” getting a text from Ashley that she held her crow pose, or my personal best, holding a 60 second plank!  I NEVER could have done that before the challenge!
I know for each of us this is just the beginning, and I can’t wait to see where the rest of 2015 takes us, thanks to Maria and her amazing team!”

Buffalo Barre’s “Go Red for Women” Yoga Event

In honor of the American Heart Association and National “Go Red for Women” Day, Buffalo Barre hosted a complimentary Power Yoga class. Heart Disease is the number 1 killer in women, killing more than all forms of cancer combined. As a Women’s Fitness Studio, we felt obligated to empower this group of women with information about Heart Disease. We spoke about the symptoms and often lack of symptoms of Heart Disease in women, encouraged healthy living and regular checkups with a physician. Each yogi who attended received information from the American Heart Association and a red dress pin. For more than a decade, the red dress has been the symbol of women joining together to end heart disease. When you wear the red dress, you are raising your voice to save the lives of women! “Success is a Journey, not a Destination”

We are so excited to announce that Jen Klyczynski is the winner of our “Countdown to the Holidays 30 Day Challenge!” In 30 days, Jen attended 24 classes and 4 meetings. She took a variety of Barre, Pilates and Yoga classes. She participated in an educational grocery store tour, a nutrition meeting, a healthy cooking class and a home remedies seminar.  She logged a food journal for 30 days, accepted the challenge to take 12,500 steps per day and even took back to back classes many nights after working all day. Jen lost 5 1/2 lbs, 3 1/2 inches and 2 1/2% body fat! Most importantly, she feels improved energy and is enjoying new confidence in herself. The photo above is when Jen hit her 100 class mark at Buffalo Barre about a month ago. Congratulations Jen on all that you have accomplished in such a short amount of time. You have a positive attitude, a great work ethic and you are receptive to trying new things. You truly deserve all of your hard earned success!

We would like to thank ALL of our 30 Day Challenge participants. I probably say this every time, but this really was a very special group of women. All attended every meeting and took advantage of the unlimited classes as much as their schedules would allow. The kindness that I saw between them was really amazing. I often heard words of encouragement and praise towards each other before or after class. A very special group indeed!

Here are some words from Jen, our overall winner. (The winner is based on weight loss, inches lost, % body fat loss, meeting attendance, class attendance, food journaling and taking a variety of classes.)

” I started taking classes at Buffalo Barre in April 2014, when a friend invited me to go to a class. I never thought that “bring a friend to class” would turn into such a lifestyle change for me. Buffalo Barre’s 30 Day Challenge showed me how far I really have come and that my hard work is paying off. I am able to notice changes that happened that I didn’t see before! Thank you to the amazing instructors and all the wonderful ladies sweating it out at class and supporting one another every day. I am seeing results that I never thought I would. The confidence I have built knowing that by going to class I am doing something to help better myself is priceless. Through the nutrition meetings, grocery store tours and other events I learned some valuable new things and reinforced some previous knowledge on healthy eating and making better food choices. It has helped me to lose 5 1/2 lbs and 3 1/2  inches in the past 30 days ! I cant wait to see even more progress as I continue my journey at Buffalo Barre!”
