I started coming to Buffalo Barre in April of 2016 and had no idea what to expect. I had never tried Barre before, but had heard great things, and Buffalo Barre was down the street from my house so I decided to give it a try! I was worried it was going to be too easy or low impact for me. Well, the first class was so hard that I was shaking in some of the poses and barely got through it. But I stuck with it 3-4 times a week and was amazed at how much stronger I was getting after just a few weeks. I saw inches come off of my waist and thighs (my problem area!) and I saw improved performance in other areas such as my yoga practice and running. I was even inspired by Maria to train for my first half marathon, which I completed this past May. Since the classes are small, the other members took me in and made me feel at home right away. I have never been part of such a supportive community. Combined with a plant- based diet, I have lost 18 pounds, but gained strength, confidence and many new friendships. We are so proud (and honored) to have built that community for Sam, and so many women like her! She was always beautiful, but she’s so much STRONGER now- body and spirit!

I usually attend Danielle’s classes and she is so much fun! She has this insane amount of energy and a sense of humor that can make everyone laugh, even when we’re in the middle of a challenging leg set at the barre. Can’t wait for many more classes to come!”
~”I’m so excited to share my story. Some of you may or may not know that I’ve been going to Buffalo Barre since 2012. The first class I took was amazing and I knew this was the place where I would be working out for a very long time. It became a routine for me putting everything aside to go to my morning class. Fast forward to 2015. I was feeling something was wrong in my hip area on both sides. My range of motion was becoming less and less but I continued to work out at Buffalo Barre. There came a day where the pain in my hips was extremely bad. I was diagnosed with moderate to severe arthritis in both hips and I was told that within six months I would be using a walker or cane. At first I was very upset but then said to myself I will not let this happen I will continue to work out. I received hip injections which helped me and the doctor who was performing the procedure said to me you have amazing strong muscle tone around your hips which is helping you immensely. I then proceeded to tell him that I work out at Buffalo Barre he then said that the muscle build up is what is protecting my hips so keep doing what I’m doing. I continue to work out at Buffalo Barre and I feel that I am in the greatest shape that I have ever been in my life! I attribute that to none other than Maria McKendry and her amazing staff. I do not use a walker nor do I use a cane and I will never have to. I hope my story will inspire others to not give up to keep going no matter how little you do or how much you do, be consistent, being mindful, be healthy.” ~ Cathy
“I started at Buffalo Barre a few months after having my first baby and was the heaviest I have ever been. I was determined to make some life changes. I have always wanted a fitness routine that I enjoyed and would actually stick with but never found anything to fit the bill. I went outside my comfort zone and decided to try out some Barre classes! After my first week at Buffalo Barre I was hooked!! The instructors were very welcoming, patient and encouraging. The other women in the class were fun and supportive. Each class was different and it kept me motivated and excited to stay on track. Within a matter of weeks I was starting to feel more energized, more confident, stronger and could see results both in the mirror and on the scale. I started attending class three to four days a week and it was fun and enjoyable! I went on to participate in their 30 day challenge where I learned a lot about heathy eating and habits. I bonded with some great women, shed some serious inches and in the end was named the winner of the challenge! I was so pleased with myself and my results. I was losing weight, tightening and toning areas of my body I thought were doomed for good and my energy was through the roof. In my success there I was motivated to try new things, start running and participate in a few 5k races. Buffalo Barre was a life changer for me! I am now expecting baby number 2 very soon and can’t wait to get back to the studio!” ~ Nicole
“The before picture taken in mid-January was my “I need to do something moment”. I was working out but lost my passion and drive for it and was eating whatever I wanted. I did lose about 10 pounds before I walked into Buffalo Barre but I was still extremely out of shape . I had no core strength at all, I could not hold a plank or finish any core exercises. In just one month I have lost another 7 pounds and my body has changed drastically. I can now hold a plank , my midsection has been melting away and I have tightened up drastically. I think twice now when I want to have a cheat meal because I work so hard in class. Danielle is always pushing me when I think I can’t do it. Renee has me in yoga positions now that I could not physically do on the first day and Al kicks my butt in kickboxing , the amount of calories burned in that class is crazy. The other women are constantly motivating and inspiring me to work harder. I can definitely now say my passion and drive is back to continue working on the healthier version of me ..mind, body and soul.”~Kristen

“I used to hate going to the gym because once I would get to the gym, I didn’t know what to really do besides the basics! I wanted to get into some sort of work out class. One of my girlfriends told me about Buffalo Barre. I figured, why not?! My first class with Maria was such a challenge. I said to myself about 5 times during that class, ‘I am never coming back!’ A couple days went by and I realized I had never felt better! So I gave it another go! One class turned into going to class a couple times a week and absolutely loving it! Sometimes you have to push yourself through to begin to find enjoyment!
